Activities The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development (MEPRD) is Latvia’s leading authority responsible for the development and implementation of policy in relation to environmental protection, including biodiversity protection and conservation and regional development. The MEPRD develops legislation for development planning and is in charge of supervising development planning in local municipalities. The MEPRD has begun to develop a concept for the integration of biodiversity conservation issues into development plans for local municipalities, an experience that may be of interest to the other project partners.
