Activities The Centre of Applied Forest Research (CIEF) is a regional body dealing with territorial management and public policy implementation related to forest management and the conservation of native plant genetic resources. Its main objectives include the transfer of good practices in nature conservation management; the supplying of native species seeds and plants for forestation and habitat restoration; the coordination of regional public nurseries; the establishment of forest genetic resources conservation strategies for the Valencia region (ECOGEN Strategy); the supervision and control of the commercialisation of forest reproductive material; and support to policy implementation related to the introduction of plants in nature conservation areas and plant propagation. As part of the Regional Ministry for Infrastructure, Territory and Environment, the CIEF works closely with departments for territorial and landscape planning, water management and biodiversity and with management of the Natura 2000 Network, protected areas and natural parks and forestry service. The CIEF team, representing Valencia Regional Government, is therefore in an ideal position to undertake management activities related to green infrastructure issues.
